In our world, every day is National Dance Day.
But thanks to “So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator and Dizzy Feet Foundation founder Nigel Lythgoe, we get one day a year to officially declare our own. That day — National Dance Day — is this Saturday, July 30.
What’s it all about?
The nationally recognized campaign encourages Americans to embrace dance — simple as that. Whether you’re a comp kid, a ready-to-go-pro dancer, or a non-dancer but avid “So You Think You Can Dance” watcher, this day is for you.
And you can get involved!
Every year, there’s an official National Dance Day routine. This year’s routine — set to Megan Trainor’s “Dance Like Yo Daddy” — features “SYTYCD” All-Stars Marko Germar, Comfort Fedoke, Kathryn McCormick, and Robert Roldan, along with “Dance Moms'” cutest star, Mackenzie Ziegler. Check out the combo, then round up your entire studio and film your performance. Be sure to share it — and you just might get featured on the next episode of “So You Think You Can Dance!”
