Looking for a sweet post-class treat? Forget the milkshake and leave the Snickers bar at the counter. These desserts are oh-so-yummy and still pack a nutritional punch.
Cacao-Dusted Almonds: Find them in the bulk bins at your local health food store, Co-op, or Whole Foods. Almonds are packed with healthy fats and protein, and the cacao (that’s fancy for “mmmm chocolate”) makes ’em sweet and indulgent.
Coco-Fruit: Buy your favorite fresh fruit (we prefer honeydew melon, watermelon, and mango) and top with dried or sweetened coconut. One bite and it’s like you’re vacationing in Hawaii!
Frozen Fruit: Easy but tasty. Pop some raspberries or grapes in the freezer, let them firm up, and they’ll taste totally different (and way more fun) than regular old fruit.
Almond Butter, Chocolate & Banana Sandwiches: Chop a banana, smear a bit of almond butter in between two pieces, dip in melted dark chocolate and freeze. An hour later, you’ve got the best sandwich ever.
Chocolate-Covered Pretzels: Make them healthier by making your own! Just dip your favorite kind of pretzel in melted dark chocolate and let set in the refrigerator or freezer for a while before eating.
DIY Popsicles: Blend your favorite fruits together in a blender, put the mix into ice trays, add a popsicle stick, freeze, bam! You have popsicles without all that extra sugar!
