Today, meet 15-year-old Lauren Yakima. In addition to her 15,000 Instagram followers and winning a number of awards, Lauren definitely shines in the dance world. One of Lauren’s most memorable accomplishments was when she recently won the First Teen National Honored Dancer at the National Dance Honors. When Lauren was younger, she played Clara in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She also previously won West Coast Dance Explosion Nationals and was able to go on tour! She has been in the top 3 dancers for the past 3 years at The Dance Awards. Talk about some amazing accomplishments! Here’s more to know about this beautiful girl…
Favorite dance styles: “Contemporary, Jazz and Hip-hop.”
Favorite choreographers: “Kayla Kalbfleisch because she has a passion for dance that inspires me to work as hard as her and to love what I do as much as her.”
Dream role: “It is my dream to be successful as a dancer and/or a choreographer.”
Favorite school subject: “Choir. This class is one of the classes that I feel can really potentially prepare me for a dance job in my future. ”
Favorite ice cream flavor: “Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Truffle.”
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? “Pasta.”
Favorite book:”Looking for Alaska by John Green.”
Favorite movies: “LaLa Land, Dirty Dancing, Finding Dory, West Side Story and She’s the Man.”
Must-see TV: “Greys Anatomy, Blindspot, Prison Break, Shameless and How To Get Away With Murder.”
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? “Europe.”
If your life were a movie, who would you cast in it? “My best friend would be played by Jennifer Lawrence and my love interest would be played by Dave Franco.”
What’s the weirdest thing in your dance bag? “Toe paws.”
Favorite way to hit the stage: “I really like performing alone and in a group. When your alone you can just focus on yourself but when you are on stage with you friends you can enjoy it together and have fun. I love choreographing and watching my work on stage to see how far it has come. I have not yet been in a music video, but I imagine dancing in one would be an unforgettable experience.”
