What did you do each day as a Jo+Jax intern?
“Each day at Jo+Jax offered me new experiences and insights. I would manage daily tasks such as responding to customer e-mails and phone calls, process returns and exchanges, and organizing inventory. On top of these things, I was responsible for completing tasks on an immediate need basis, so when projects came up I would just work on them until they were done.” –Jenn B, 2016 Intern
What was it like interning in NYC?
“Interning with Jo and Jax was such an amazing experience. Everyone treated me like family and helped me out with anything I needed. The best part is that we all still keep in touch because they influenced my life in such a great way. We all worked so hard, but got to have fun at the same time. Like dancing in our seats to some old school rock and roll, or playing around in the office trying to figure out fun things to put on our Jo and Jax Snapchat Story. I learned a lot about how a business runs and how social media management and public relations work as well. It is also a reason I changed my major after I returned to school because I found out how much I loved the marketing aspects of business. Also, I hope you like candy, because that is a staple in the office.” –Sarah E, 2015 Intern
What was your favorite part of your internship?
“My favorite part of the internship was getting work, organize and assist on photo shoots for both the new lines of clothing as well as the JJGirl ambassador promotional photo shoot. It was so fun because we got to travel around the city which kept me really busy. I also got to meet so many incredible people in the process because it was very collaborative.” –Jenn B, 2016 Intern
How has interning at Jo+Jax helped you?
“After working at Jo and Jax I realized what I really wanted to do after college. Since the office is smaller and not a huge corporation where you get sucked into being an intern who only makes copies and gets coffee, I got to learn about so many aspects of business that it helped open my eyes to so many different career paths. After doing a lot of social media management at Jo and Jax, I took a class at the University of Florida, ironically called Social Media Management, where I got to learn about social media and how it effects your company’s image. Going through this class, I could relate every assignment and lecture to things that I experienced at Jo and Jax. Not only did I see things that I actually did at Jo and Jax just in that class, but almost every class since that I have taken in the business school, I have been learning things that I did while in my internship with Jo and Jax. It was such a rewarding experience to see that this internship was useful and taught me so much.” –Sarah E, 2015 Intern
What advice would you give to future Jo+Jax interns?
“I would tell the next Jo+Jax Intern that they should look forward to sleeping well at night because if you really apply yourself to this job, it is tiring. I felt like I was engaged in some sort of work or productivity every minute of the day. In order to be successful in this internship, I think the intern has to take a lot of initiative to do things without being told to do them and to ask for help when you need it. It felt like a family by the end of the summer and I was very sad to leave, but I learned so much during my two months of interning.” –Jenn B, 2016 Intern
