Whether you’re still at a summer intensive or you’re spending your days roaming the aisles at Target stocking up on back-to-school supplies, we say take a break! Because these videos are worth stopping, dropping, and watching!
Taylor Hatala and Larsen Thompson “Run the World”
You bet they do. Wowza! We’re sure you’ve already seen this one considering it went viral in about eight seconds, but if not, here’s the gist: hip-hop’s pint-sized superstars Taylor Hatala and Larsen Thompson (who call themselves fraternal twins despite not actually being related) go to town in an office, proving girls run the world, the boardroom, and beyond. The video, choreographed and conceptualized by Janelle Ginestra, defines “fierce females.”
Audacious Adi at the Vail International Dance Festival
Elsewhere in “young people who are awesome at hip hop,” Audacious Adi took to a platform at the Vail International Dance Festival last week to show how you can dance big in a small space. Love the way she seems to float across that little stage!
Hamilton on Broadway
From creative genius Lin-Manuel Miranda (who wrote and starred in Broadway’s In the Heights) and choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (you know him as the man behind the moves from In the Heights, Bring It On: The Musical, and Annie) comes the next great thing, according to every newspaper, blog, reviewer, and critic ever: Hamilton. We know what you’re thinking (because we thought it, too, at first!). A musical about Alexander Hamilton? A historical musical? With rap music? Sounds weird for sure, but it’s taken the Great White Way by storm. Can’t make it to NYC (or snag a ticket, because it’s sold out for roughly ever)? Watch this clip. Who knew the dancing was so awesome back in the day?!
