World of Dance is well underway in it’s second season on NBC, and this month on the Jo + Jax blog, we’ve highlighted some of our favorite performances from “The Duels.”
These dancers and competitors are diverse in style and vibe, but they all come through with the intensity and passion of bonafide artists on the performance floor.
Unique and Captivating
Japan dance groups are often characterized by their superb quality of movement, surprising and unique visual effects and perfect synchronization. The Fabulous Sisters are no exception to this. Watch as these ladies captivate the audience and judges with their stand out performance. As Ne-yo comments, it is “art in motion.”
I mean ‘WHOA’
Marissa and the Heartbreaks really bring the heat to this face-off. The dancers showcase incredible flexibility and timing all while dancing in super tall stilettos! We love the intensity and sass that this group has brought to the competition.
Hailing from Canada, FLIP takes a classic piece of music, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, remixes it and put their own ‘flip’ on it with fresh hip hop movement. These dancers utilize creative staging, level and direction changes to create a visually powerful piece, not to mention their stellar timing together.
A Perfect Score
Charity and Andres blew the judges away with their incredible strength and support for one another in their partnering. Charity glides through the air, appearing practically weightless throughout their routine. With total commitment and not an ounce of hesitation, these two really gave it there all on the WOD stage and left the floor reaping the benefits of the first ever perfect score from the judging panel.
